Book Reviews: Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

Image
Intense, heartbreaking and absorbing, this is one of Stiefvater’s best known works for good reason. Realistic characters collide with insane situations and result in a wild, emotional ride. Later books also explore elements such as addiction and depression. Adding real-life problems jumbled in with paranormal ones creates a balanced story which guides you through without ever feeling preachy, while still allowing you to understand the characters and real people with the same issues. Recommended for ages 14-18. Contains violence, sexual references, coarse language and mature themes.
