Movie Reviews: Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

NickandNorahtheworstmovieever
Ladies and gentlemen…. Allow me to introduce the worst book to movie adaptation EVER. Everything that was amazing about the book has been taken and irreversibly twisted into a completely ridiculous film full of cheap laughs and pointless additional scenes. The book is less than 200 pages long, it can’t have been that difficult to stick to it. The starring actors fail to capture all that was good about their characters on the page, and instead turn them into idiotic, soulless pieces of cardboard. Do yourself a favour, read the book and avoid the film at all costs!

Book Reviews: Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

naomi

In this fierce, fabulous novel, Cohn and Levithan effortlessly capture the essence of relationships of all kinds in a simple, yet clear and honest way. In just a couple hundred pages, Cohn and Levithan’s story explores friendship, romance, acquaintances and relationships with parents in a way that all teens should be able to understand. Naomi, Ely and all the supporting characters are incredibly relatable and fun, and drive the story even through the deeper, more complex parts.
A clever, easy-to-digest novel of mixed feelings, misunderstandings and life at it’s craziest and most difficult. Pure teenage book-nerd heaven.  Recommended for ages 14-19. Contains sexual references, coarse language and mild themes.

Book Reviews: Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

NickandNorah

The ultimate example of just how little time it can take for your life to change, Cohn and Levithan’s first novel was a hit with audiences everywhere for good reason. A hot, energy-packed romance, clever characters, an inspiring and memorable plot. All these elements combine into an explosion of literary mastery that could only be the work of these two authors. Just please don’t ever see the movie! Recommended for ages 14-18. Contains sexual references and coarse language.

Book Reviews: Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

7741325

Probably one of my all-time favourite books – smart, sexy, hilarious and fun. One of the rare teen novels that explores themes such as friendship and love without having to go into more depressing topics. Light-hearted yet deep and profound, Cohn and Levithan have struck the perfect balance between a novel that gives important life lessons and one that effortlessly engages teenagers. Dash’s entertainingly pessimistic commentary and Lily’s possibly naive but nonetheless endearing hopefulness are a great combination. Recommended for ages 14-17. Contains sexual references and coarse language.
